Gravity Storm Demo v1.3.0, Remappable Buttons, New Tutorial


Hightlights:

This is the biggest demo update in a long time, the changelog is huge. Remappable button were not easy to implement, they might need some tweaks, but they work:

The tutorial was overhauled since I realized something about players, if you don't force them to do stuff, they probably won't do it. You would not believe the  amount of people who straight out ignore the tutorial text because they didn't need to do what it told them to do and thus they ended up not learning the super abilities. Among other changes, I added walls that can only be destroyed with the super abilities.

The next update will be focused  on graphics and music, hopefully it's the last demo update so I can focus on the full release. Here's the full list of changes:

UPDATE v1.3.0 CHANGELOG:
Main Changes:
  •  Remappable buttons/key bindings.
  •  The tutorial level has been remade.
  • Removed scrolling text in the intro; it will be added back in the full release.
  • Added Dutch language support.
  •  Now when you play the game for the first time, you will be presente with a "choose your language" screen, it's not automatic anymore. This is to make sure people play in the language they prefer.
  •  Your save file will not work in this version of the game because there's a new save system. 
  • - Added back joystick support, I don't recommend to use it because it gets buggy when crouching (I'll fix it eventually).
  • - PlayStation 4/5 controller support (not fully implemented).
Bug Fixes:
  •  Fixed certain checkpoints not working.
  •  Fixed some menu buttons moving down when pressed quickly and repeatedly.
  •  Fixed a problem in the menus when alternating between using the mouse and the keyboard/gamepad.
  •  Fixed a purple enemy not appearing in level 3.
  • Fixed the player appearing inside a wall after dying in level 2.
  • Fixed the player not dying when touching a healing item.
  • Fixed the pause menu not pausing everything.
Gameplay Changes:
  • When landing after using the super flip, you can now press shoot to exit the landing state immediately.
  • The super dash can now stun enemies and has new visual effects (This might be pretty buggy).
Graphical Changes:
  • Changed the logo in title screen.
  • Added a new explosion effect.
  • The power bar has a new animation to make it stand out more.
  • Slightly increased overall screen shake.
  •  Enemies shake less when shot and now shake differently depending on the angle of the shot.
  •  Smoke now comes out of the player's head after using the super laser.
  • Enemy Changes:
  • Some tweaks to bosses 1 and 2.
  • Blue turret enemy has one more point of HP.
  • Some enemies' bullets are now faster.
  • Spikes' hitboxes are now one pixel smaller.
Other Changes:
  • Removed links from the credits screen; now it's just scrolling text.
  • Corrected some typos and translation issues.
  • To avoid confusion, the "Drawings" option is now called "Illustrations," and "Edit Mode" is now "Custom Mode."
