Gravity Storm Marketing Update

The last two weeks, I've been doing slow but constant progress on Gravity Storm. Half of the time, I've been reaching out to small streamers on Twitch, at least 10 of them streamed my game, the biggest one had 40 people watching. Some expressed their interest in keep playing the game and even wanted to stream it again.

The last two streamers who played it had a hard time with the game, I am not mad at them or anything, but they gave up and didn't finish the game and that is not good advertisement. In the past 3 days, I have not gotten new Steam wishlists, I actually lost one.  I have 230 wishlists now.

4 other streamers told me that they are gonna stream the game, and they seen pretty likely to do so, which is nice. Still we are talking about streamers who get like 10 viewers. I appreciate them the same either way, but you know, it's not as good.  Also, I will still email some other content creators

A streamer with an average of 200 viewers said he would stream my game, but it seems he forgot and I have to politely remind him. Indie Game Clinic will stream Gravity Storm next week, his Youtube streams usually get more than 500 views and he is good at giving feedback, which is pretty good.

Then we have the Steam Next Fest, which if I'm lucky might double or triple my wishlists. I also think about itchio and gxgames, many people there might be waiting to buy the game on those websites. Gxgame is the platform where I've gotten the most visibility, with over 400,000 plays, but I can't sell Gravity Storm on Gxgames because at the moment they don't have support for my country.

Other things I want to mention:

  •  That there are many people who don't really play demos and aren't interested in wishlisting, they simply want to play finished games, so although they might be interested in Gravity Storm, their interest is not visible.
  • Steam and maybe itchio will give me a visibility boost when the game is actually out, as they usually do when a new full game is released.
  • it's my undertanding that content creators and the press are more likely to cover finished games rather than games in development.
  • I know Gravity Storm isn't a looker, I know it's a 2D platformer, and at faith value it looks like a generic Megaman clone although it isn't, so it's not the most marketable game.

It's working, because I've watched several of these streamers play Gravity Storm and it's always fun to see their reactions. Can't wait for when the full game is released!
