Next Fest Recap, Gravity Storm

I started the Steam Next Fest with 236 wishlists.

At first, I wanted to double my wishlists, but given the amount of promotion I did and I recieved, I think Gravity Storm underperformed. I got a Youtuber, El Cofre, to make a video of the game, which has gotten over 5k views and lots of positive comments. I also got Indie Game Clinic to give me some feedback in a video with almost 1k views.

Content creators who played Gravity Storm
  • El cofre de los videojuegos (thumbnail isn't the best):

  • Indie Game Clinic (minute 3:40):

To my knowledge, 7 small content creators played Gravity Storm during the Next Fest, but the actual number is very hard to measure, because there's no relyable way to search for every content creator who plays a specific game.

Gxgames exposure

Gravity Storm got on the front page of Gxgames, getting over 5k new plays there. My gxgames page is linked to my Steam page.

My own posts

On the first day of the event, I posted about the game in 10 different Discord servers. I also posted about it on all my social media, on several different days. I uploaded a Youtube video that got two hundred views. Links to my social media at the end of the vlog.

Conclusion

I'm not sure how different the wishlists would have been without all this extra help, but I expected a bit more . I mostly blame it on the fact that  my game is not that visually appealing, and it's short 2D platformer, so there's only so much I can do about this. However, this is way better than getting nothing, and the game can still pick up. The goal is to sell at least 2k copies with the full game both on Steam and Itchio.

My plans now are to focus on finishing the game, make some visual improvements and stop promoting so much because it takes up so much of my time and I think I did all I could for now. Once the game is finished, I will put out a release date Trailer, and promote it again.

At the end of the Next Fest I got 464 wishlists, which is not the best, but it's ok. The goal is to sell at least 2,000 copies with the full game.

so much work and numbers!

you really worked hard with all those content creators to get your game out there! Even if you didn't get as many wishlists as you wanted, hopefully the visibility will still help the game in the long run. Good work in this nextfest jamps!

Thank you for your nice words :)

Glad to see Next Fest more than doubled your count, even if it's below what you were hoping for. I can't wait for when the game is finally released!
